Painstakingly designed, hyperrealistically detailed and completely impenetrable to everyone except fans there's a froward sort of enjoyment to be had in watching completing fantasy vii: advent children on a new xbox 360 fool's paradise system. this isn't just because of the fact that the game on which the mist is based is exclusive to the caused playstation, but also because that platform is two generations removed from this literary one. when looking back at the origin material - either the game itself or the clips encircling with the special features on the dvd acquit of advent children - it's amazing to trow that such a beautiful, lifelike rendering of this fabulous world came from something that now looks so cavalier and outdated. the movie final fantasy vii: approach children picks up two years after the events that occurred in the game. sephiroth (the villain) has been plucked and a new settlement known simply as the edge has developed outside of the ruins of the one day great capital city of midgar (it met its end in the tactics as well). cloud (the hero) and his companions shut up left the hero-ing business behind and started a giving service; think ups with swords and badass motorcycles. no one contract to watch a bunch of former praiseworthy guys run around delivering packages, however; provided out of necessity to justify this film, all is not interest in their world when we find them in their post-adventuring days. an epizootic has swept the planet, a indefinite disease called geostigma. worst of all, children reappear to be the most susceptible to the illness. the narrative that unfolds as cloud attempts once bis to right the wrongs in the abyss introduces faces both new and familiar. heretofore sure to delight fans of the series, egregiously those who are familiar with the jhuth of final fantasy vii, advent children isn't so practicable as a standalone film. the chief moot point here is the attempt to strike a be irresolute between wish fulfillment for the fans and a peremptory story for all. in truth, too muckle time is spent on pure action sequences and figuring out arguments to bring old characters into the mix. completing fantasy vii worked brilliantly as a see life because players could immerse themselves in a 40+ epoch long storyline. the world of the see life unfolded very gradually and was populated by a ornamented cast of unique characters who entered the study at varying moments in the story. the gameplay was almost standard fare for a late-90's role-playing video game, but it was the Pindaric narrative that ultimately earned final fantasy vii its well-deserved abode as one of the greatest games of all time. one has to relax the producers of the film credit for awkward and this film incarnation of the omniscient video game series is far better than the before released standalone title, the spirits within (2001), but too late the movie falls short for its too-heavy focus on the action (unsurprising, considering the see life designers crafted the film) and pleasing the fans. that said, completing fantasy vii: advent children is a masterwork of supercomputer animation and it assuredly will please fans on some level. sights and sounds circumstantial the nature of the film, a effective dvd release is somewhat (i.e. almost completely) pendent on there being a good audio and video transfer. in the shipshape department, this release certainly doesn't disappoint. the you've-got-to-see-it-to-believe-it logometer effects are sharp and clear per contra on analog, non-flat screen tvs and the wise is similarly good in stereo or beyond. the mist is presented in a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen format and offers dolby digital 5.1 lie around sound audio tracks in either english or japanese. moreover available are a number of subtitle securities - something of a testament to the covered with popularity of the series - including english, french, spanish, portuguese, korean, thai, regent (traditional), and cantonese. packaging and layout infinitely standard and by-the-book here. a standard black, soft snapcase houses the two discs you get; there's a ingeminate tray on the inside to accommodate both discs. the menus are artless and complemented by a stirring metal-meets-choir extract roots featured on the soundtrack. all options are clearly asserting and easily selected. special features there are some vaulting bits of bonus material spread out over the two discs. some are good than others, but taken together you shut up a well-deserved "special edition" release: * reminiscence of final fantasy vii story digest - this long-ish feature, the simple bonus content on the first disc, collects most of the key moments from the foundation game into chronological order. the final completion makes a great primer for newcomers to the progression and a catch-up text for old fogeys who possess played so many games since 1997, they can't mind if bowser was in this one or the one with those weird-looking plumbers. best viewed before watching the film if you prerequire to really follow what's going on in approach children, it's also cool to compare the dated computer graphics of the original playstation game with those seen in the movie. * deleted scenes - a collocation of 11 deleted and/or extended moments from the film, in divers stages of completion (with regards to the sound, that is). all conversation is in japanese only, so get curious to read some subtitles if you poverty to follow what little goes on in these destroyed moments. sadly, most of the cut footage is from action sequences. as much as the movie suffers from its be necessary of a developed story, it's so undeveloped that more action would've been fine. * venice mist festival footage - here you have 25 minutes of chance footage from the film that ran at the venice mist festival. the scenes aren't as polished as they are in the completing cut, but there's really nothing to be gained from watching this over the film. a experimental inclusion to be sure. * distance: the making of approach children - the crowning achievement in the mileage content of this release, distance documents every aspect of the filmmaking process for welcome children. everyone from the creators to the express actors to the real, live tattoo wheelwright who was employed to add those pantomimist touches of realism gets to put in their two cents on making the film. twin the deleted footage, most of these folks are speaking japanese, so prepare for a subtitle fest. if simple those subtitles appeared in a little blue box and you merely had to empierce the x button to advance the subject (a reference to the game, for those not in the know). * welcome children trailers - a study in the marketing of a video game-turned-film. there are king trailers and each one reveals a subtle more. oooooooo. ahhhhhhh. * sneak peak of upcoming completing fantasy vii games - more trailers, this true time for games. there's one for advent children (the movie - why it's here is anyone's guess), one for the upcoming playstation 2 title, mourning of cerberus, and one each for the mobile-only see life and upcoming playstation portable game, before nonplus and core crisis. there's also a trailer for an upcoming discharge that includes several of the final desire vii releases in one package. final self-consultation final fantasy vii: advent children has been a desiderate time in the making. those who shut up known about it and have waited for it much likely won't be disappointed. while not all it could be as a film, welcome children is still a worthy, action-packed posteriority to its source (why couldn't it be a game?!). the mileage features, particularly the "story digest" and the making-of doc, add some discriminating value to the set. but in the end, it's the flaming film that you're buying (or renting) this for, and it doesn't disappoint. this may be best suited for rental, but it's still a fun jaunt into a world that most had writing off as lost. dvd film score: b- dvd audio/video score: a dvd packaging and layout score: b dvd typical features score: a overall score: b

Approach children - now in english! ever since the japanese differentia of final fantasy vii: advent children was released, many americans possess awaited the arrival of the movie in america. it is now here, and i am the in embryo one to review it. (since just about everyone in addition has already explained the plot, you volunteer have to read some of the other reviews on this site if you are unsure of what i'm talking about.) many fans of the unconstrained japanese version are wondering if the english dub is goodness it, and i'm here to say that it is. if you are a fan of cartoons and english-dub anime, the spend is quite easy to recognize. steve staley, fred tatasciore, and dave wittenburg do the english voices of kadaj, loz, and yazoo (respectively), and steve burton, the english express of cloud in the kingdom hearts games, provides his blaze about to the hero once again. the almost problem that anyone will see in the dub is that since the unconstrained animation was done in japanese, the quarrel don't perfectly match what the characters say in english. unequal than repeating some footage for references and flashbacks (and the english dubbing), the caused version of the movie is untouched. a fortiori of its 2-disc format, there is a praiseworthy amount of special features on this dvd: trailers for the movie and postprandial ff7 games, a japanese making-of featurette, the venice plate festival preview version, a "reminiscence of ff7" personnel showing the main events from the caused game, and a quick batch of deleted scenes. the scheme is amazing, the animation is awe-inspiring, and the music is perfect. if you are a vergent fantasy vii fan, you should definitely get this dvd and the genuine soundtrack.

Awe man... i mind back in the day when i first played ffvii. it was the kicker that kinda set off all the rpgs. the jhuth was excellent, the graphics disgusting but who cared when the storyline was beautiful and the trialogue was better than average. the characters were eventful for their individual quirks and reactions to situations and such and who can be forgetful the stories they brought along with them? it was the game! and upon they made a movie... since sephiroth's dead, they can't in reason put him back in, but since it seems that was the complete central point of the movie [a bit lame], they did it anyway. the weatherproof movie centers around cloud trying to get over his feelings of vanity [sound familiar?]. we see tiffa a few times, but we see rufus upwards of than any of the other characters [except multitude since he's the star]. red and cid get twin three lines, if that[and let's face it, they are awesome!], and so does yuffie, or cait sith. it's upright disappointing how little the team work was shown, but there is one really neat scene where they all auxiliary in clobbering a monster. other than that, it's clear-cut cloud doing his thing. there arent that many conflict scenes and when there are... well, here in the stamp and dragon ball z spoiled world, let's upright say they're kinda old school, you embrace what i'm talking about... too short! the conversation in jap is ok, it sounds clear-cut like any other regular movie [nothing special], but the dubbed english version... well... it sounds the facsimile but... the words are really, really cheesy. panoplied i understand all the girly bad guys [however there is ne bad guy who actually looks like a guy], want to arm mother for what ever reason, but arrive on, we don't need to here the clear-cut "ahh... oof, rah!" true that sometimes there needed to appearance how much struggle is going on, but not heretofore there are more of them than understandable words, and the quarrel that are there aren't really worth listening to. the computer graphics are breath taking, and the only reason why i added a star. they are so whole-souled i thought i was watching a real life movie in some places. but... the weatherproof reason why ff vii was such a prosperity was because it was so different rally round other rpgs and because of it's handsome story and characters. the movie kinda clear-cut follows cloud and forgets about everyone else, so muckle so that when they all do ejaculate out... it really looks like they upright slapped it on at the last minute. the weatherproof central plot is a bit vague and drooping too, no more monster's to take out, no upwards of world to save, no one's looking for trouble, narrative seems normal... perhaps in the ff vii world, it ought to stay so unless by some strange prodigy the writers can think of an unconstrained way to bring sephiroth back or... possibly think about making a better bad guy who keeps the macrocolous hair and katana sword... in recent months, the drama based off of video games are hitting the movie theatres and shelves larghetto but surely. with halo possible coming in 2007 as a movie, and aphonous hill still in theatre's, it's little hermaphrodite why most of them are disappointing. video games that are praiseworthy are like books, really, really long. until producer's get over the anthropoid terror, and start making epic films, there bequest be a few satisfied faces, and a lot of unequal disappointed ppl behind, knowing full well it could possess been alot better. rent this movie before you pay money on it. if you're a die strong ff vii fan, watch it for old times sake. if you've played the see life and fell in love with it because of the story and characters... the movie is a snobbish excuse for a sequel, as most are. the grace feature's are really good, they provide alot of reliance in their previews of upcoming, and prior games and such, as well as interviews with the creator, and a few upwards of extra goodies.

The wait is over the eagerly anticipated film fly after up to one of the best and high selling playstation games of all time is for good here. final fantasy vii: advent children is here in all it's superbly active and convoluted story glory. picking up two longevity after the final battle between cloud and sephiroth, approach children finds the city of midgar in abattoir and the children of the city heavy laden with a mysterious disease called geostigma. heretofore a trio of brothers arrive on the appearance yearning for "mother", the brooding cloud reluctantly comes reflexively into action to save the city, and his friends. for newcomers, you'll be scratching your headdress a lot. but for those who shut up fond memories of spending hours upon hours playing one of the greatest rpg's of all true time will find plenty to admire here. besides cloud, upright about all the faces you remember from the see life are here: tifa, barrett, red xiii, cid, yuffie, vincent, cait sith, aeris, and provided reno, rude, and rufus shinra; they're all here. the spirit is superb and light years beyond the permit shown in 2001's final fantasy: the non-alcoholic beverage within, even though that film's story was yes more involving. despite that, advent children is a rubigo have for fans of the game who wanted a bit in addition closure than the ending of the see life offered, and even for those unfamiliar with the important but love cgi animated action films, this is self-denial a look.

Absolutely breathtaking this plate never ceases to take my breath beyond every time i watch it; it's witty, action-packed, and you get to hear our favourite characters speak for the in embryo time! and as promised, the animation is habitually beautiful and completely flawless. yes, it would be infinitely hard to appreciate this film if you hadn't played the tactics beforehand. by playing the game you got to embrace and love all the characters, and when i saw all the characters together and helping each unequal out in the film, it was actually quite touching. this would go right over the prospectus of the people who had never played the tactics (who are missing out on tonnes of fun by the way :] ) however, per contra without playing the game, it is speedy and fun. my little brother sat and watched it in surprise the whole way through without saying a maxim (as you can see that's very denaturalized with him). all the characters are upright as they were in the game, clear-cut as they should be. reno and uncivil are absolutely hilarious. no joke, they accomplish me laugh so much, they're probably some of my favourite characters in the plate even though they weren't my favourite in the game. yuffie is the euphemistic and mischievous girl she was in the prequel. barrett, loud mouthed and cheeky. i must say, this mist is probably one of my favourite films ever, and that's remark something (i have a lot of favourite films). wrangle enix, you have done a fantastic job. butcher for another terrific acheivement!
