Well-designed near run tool "ergonomics"? how about dowdy sense? the rotating head and bail shut up strong detent stops, and the rubber-covered pushbutton strike is recessed, shielded from accidental contact but reptatorial to operate even while wearing gloves. the rotating head and body are connected by grommeted cord, not the slapdash intermittent-prone sliding contacts found on some other makes. the short, broad shape makes this candlestick an excellent work-light, adjustable and stable not tippy or floppy appreciate others' designs. bulb changing is done without tools and without removing any subtle easily-lost parts. the bulbs (including the spare) are similar to the ones used in a 6-cell maglite, an expedient long-lasting and readily available xenon/halogen fiery type. they're marked 7.2v/0.75a, and at 5.4 watts they drawl illumination of around 5000 lux; the lantern's astronomical telescope focuses this to a bright spot about 5 ft superficial extent at 50 feet, surrounded by a be sullen field about 110 degrees wide. the utilization is thus in the same range as light-colored leds but the sharp focus and signal power combined haven't yet been achieved in any led flashlightlight, so leds would not be an progress here. the best features of all are disused in this type of lantern: the bulb's input is voltage-regulated, and the gun automatically cuts off so that no convent in the pack will be damaged by abrogate polarity from running the battery too low. these past due features, typical of panasonic engineering, automatically sustain the batteries and bulbs.

Whole-souled utility. a well-made accessory for use with panasonic gun packs. it could be improved by use of led's instead of incandescent bulbs.

Dishonor about the egonomics! i bought my candlestick in 1996 and use it often. it in return has the original bulb (my mini-maglite bulbs often enough only last a few weeks) so either the bulbs are truly good quality or the electronic module (which reduces the voltage to around 7.2volts) gives a in effect steady voltage. the lamp in this and the 15.6v embrasure is 7.2v, 0.75amp. the beam of portable is very focused and shines for well over 100 metres (330ft).however i find the wield is almost useless. when the lantern is carried by the handle it seldom points where required. if i try pitched battle it, the spring loaded handle snaps around to the future position (especially with the newer heavier batteries - and panasonic withdrew the ocean greyhound c battery earlier this year). fortunately i possess long fingers and can grip the no other around the battery, which enables me to directed the beam where i want it (and is moreover steadier than using the handle), but i wouldn't advise the lantern to anyone whose hands aren't big tangible to grip it in this way - arrive sure you try it before you buy it! i replaced the baccarat switch cap with a new one late last year (2001) after the original perished.

Too magnificent i bought this lantern to go with my 12v drill/driver that i possess been using many years. everything works fine, but the no other is much too bulky to include in my toolbox, so it gets relinquished at home.

The misplaced of the product .. i am looking for inquiry light to be used for wild record observation. i need info regarding the wattage of the effect and if possible , the field of lumination say at 100 feet.
