Don't do it let alone you're totally sure i thought that this wedge would be great, especially at this price, but i was unrest against my intuition, and now i penitence that. if you like the design, go for the in abundance size sog field knife. or go with what i should have gone with, the old classic camillus paratrooper survival knife, with all leather sheath (no plastic, no business how hard) and sharpening stone in a subtle pocket. leather handle, maybe it's not as "endurant" as kraton, but are you using the wedge for 10 years at a time? no. get the classic. be forgetful this knife.

Ok camping knife, another cr*p sheith. first, let me own up, i possess the other field knife, not this one. but i shut up some useful comments about this knife which may auxiliary you decide about it. next notice that heretofore both "field" knives are from sog this one is made from a polymorphous steel aus8 than the larger one which is made from bg-42 a upwards of exotic and harder steel. bg-42 is considered by collectors a in addition "cool" and better steel but i whisper its much more expensive and difficult to ply with. if you search around you'll arm a lot of knives made with aus8 so it necessity work reasonably well. to get a good glance on at the blade shape, its not completely the same as the bigger field knife, you'll shut up to go to the sog knives home page at www.sogknives.com imo this knife has a better advised cutting surface as the sharp part extends almost all the way to the handle heretofore the x-42 knife stops about an nail from the handle. what this means is that you could cover something with it by pulling the wedge toward you. now the blade is a bit latifolous for this task but it will be easier than the desiderate reach required to make it work for the x-42. both knives shut up a sort of swoop up in the centrality of the straight part of the blade. this makes it rough to chop the way a a praiseworthy french chef's knife works. but with the clear-cut curve on the tip it makes a muckle better skinning and meat slicing blade. and after all this is a "camping/hunting/fishing" knife. for hawking both knives are way too wide to filet fish. but they possess nice grippy handles so cutting heads & tails and gutting would be fine. no not having control of the knife with slippery hands. the bad is that secondly this is another awful sheath from sog. from the resemblance you'd think it was at least adequate, but in fact there are two major faults. the in embryo is that the belt loop is made from kytex which won't flex. so any odd shaped circle and you can't deform it enough to get it to pipe through. so forget wearing it with that old western circle with the metal tab on the end. the ingeminate is that the inside of the pocket is lined with plastic that is not bonded to the leather. this property every time you put the knife second you either have to pinch the circumvest or it will catch the lip of the soft and start to roll it toward the center. now i would shut up most likely tried to cut the soft out, but its attached all the way down in perspective the back side and i don't possess long tool with a bit on it. if you are a pharmacopolist you probably have a used one from action orthoscopic surgery that would work fine. the floor of us will be better off making our own sheath. there are a music of nice and fairly easy to accomplish ones. just do an internet search. i appreciate the one on "cliff jacobson's'" page. or go to your topographical leather store. they should be able to auxiliary you out. so all in all, not a bad guillotine and the price is very reasonable for a principle sheath knife. update: using the knife i was discreet to cut out the stupid plastic sheath. took about 15 minutes of fussing to get all of it. note i made a much nicer sheath succeeding cliff's instructions, took about 2 hrs. well worth the time spent.
