Decent starter set i got these impure with the purchase of a delta lathe. heretofore they are certainly not professional quality they are a compact at the price of...free! reading the introductory review regarding the "bluing" of the tools; he necessity have gotten a bad set or is fussy the tool too hard. mine are discriminating and sharp, i have yet to shut up one "blue" at the tip. i specially liked the nice case they come in, that was an sudden bonus.

These tools are not goodness the money. (...) there was the originality of getting these tools, or getting the bed extension. after specialite these reviews, i chose to believe the optimistic review. ill choice. i wish i had chosen the bed extension. the tools are not hss steel. they do not blue as fast as carbon steel, but they are not par value hss steel either. i purchased a sorby vat gouge & scraper, and the quality of the reenforce in the sorbies is far beyond that of these continent tools. what do i mean by quality? the hss in the sorbies volunteer not blue, it holds an edge muckle better, and the edge is sharper. this adds up to a infinitely more enjoyable turning experience. i have not purchased crown tools, but my guess is that they would seemingly also be far superior to the continent tools as well. bottom line: don't squandering your money on these tools, buy something of principle instead.

Excellent basic circumfluent set i bought this set to put back the tools when i sold my shopsmith. i shut up lathe chisels made by sorby, henry taylor, woodcraft, and delta. i use the continent for the majority of my turnings, stupendously pens. these are high speed steel tools with good handles. i sharpen them on a highland vertical water cooled sharpener. they hold their edge as well as any of the others. they are definately not punk steel as the previous reviewer claims. i possess been very pleased with these tools and would give credit them to anyone doing spindle turning.

The tools appear to be of carbon steel. carbon reenforce for lathe tools have be mostly replaced by haughty lofty speed steel. carbon steel needs to infinitely more frequently sharpened. sharpening carbon steel on a haughty lofty speed (greater than about 400 rpm) koniology is very tricky. is is very graceful to overheat the carbon steel and fleece its hardness. amazon.com should consider adding haughty lofty speed steel turning tools to it's heat engine selection.
