Ames Bohemian striking tool woodings verona tool works used to make this sure-footed axe, the workmanship was as praiseworthy as most on the market. ames inflexible temper bought the particular plant where this is now made...(i now ply there again, used to work for woodings also) the qc is hand and shoulders above where it once was, as is the pay perambulator for those who make it. (contributing to the slapdash workmanship in another review)i'd buy it again, as beneficially as all the other heavy tools made there. one of the best values for the money period!

Don't squandering your money if i could possess rated it no stars or subaltern stars, i would have. i possess used ames products all my life, refusal them at ace hardware stores. so suppose my surprise when i found an ames axe for 15 bucks. it ain't an ames; it's mabap company woodings-verona's poor excuse for a tool. the casting is much rough (an understatement, and my axe had dings all over the hand and nicks on the blade). the handle was so rough from a pulled down finishing job, that i knew i'd possess blisters after a few swings. pulled down workmanship, quality and appearance make the woodings-verona "ames" axe almost fit for the slag heap.
