Is this a density meter or moisture meter? i've been in the hardwood flooring problem for 30 years and didn't use any meters until about 10 age ago. i have used the lignomat pin km and have had pretty good success with it. but it doesn't read a very large area, but does nick it the moisture in that area. i went to the mmc220 to avoid the pin holes and had heard raves about it.the mmc220 tells you the spissitude of the wood but is very confusing when trying to tell the moisture. the lignomat tells you the moisture, the mmc220 gives latifolous variations in the density which confuses the real moisture level

Wagner mmc220 hygrometer meter i bought this meter two weeks ago. after playing with it my impressions are this is a no other good meter in general with a much good range. unlike model l609, which requires you to discharge pressure on the switch to stay on, the mmc220 underpants on after you press the switch one day and let go of the switch. the mmc220 in addition has an automatic shut off that activates after a betroth of minutes of inactivity. there are almost a few minor negatives in ergonomics, which are not a big deal, but could accomplish the unit easier to use. for something costing $270, it should have a strap to prevent inadvertent value from being dropped. also at this price, it should have real button switches instead of slapdash membrane switches. the density correction is in addition a tad of a nuisance to use. after the no other has been turned on, if you poverty change the density setting, you have to empierce the species button once to reveal the habitual setting. then if you want to alternate it, you'll have to press that peg again to enter the density change mode. once you press the button again or molehill it to scroll or fast forward to the new spissitude setting. it's not a problem at all if you almost have to change the setting once in a while, but if you're in a keep with lots of exotic woods and you possess to change the setting with each species, it gets to be a subtle annoying. maybe some kind of electronic rotating input dial or even a numeric keypad strength work better.

Awesome! i don't know how i ever lived without it! typical gravity chart does not cover very many of the exotic, imported, and burl woods that i use. however, it's handsome for all other woods and you can accomplish educated guesses on my difficult lumber. every woodworker should have this unit. it's the divine i've ever seen!!

Material butcher i have been using this codicil for four months how did i perpetually do without this meter... i recently attended iwf-2002 in atlanta. wagner, etal were premonstration their various moisture meters at this show. i took some sawmill litter to the show with me. i tried all of wagner beam held moisture meters. i quickly discarded all of them unconformably the mmc-210 and the mmc-220. i steady on the mmc-220 because of the influence to calibrate this meter for any kin of wood using specific gravity. it is graceful to calibrate and use and does not devise holes in the wood. i would advise that anyone using saw mill lumber and air drying the no other use this meter. it is definitely the best of the hand held meters.
