Handsome tool, but know how to use it heretofore product name makes it a little misleading, this is actually sonic measurement device. (their later model is called "sonic fluorescent lamp tape.") this device gives fairly accurate reading, but upright like any other tools, if you use it wrong, you'll get ill measurement. here are some tips and recommendations. 1) know the weakness. if surface is not plodding enough, you'll get wrong or, error in reading. 2) use dowdy sense. if you are checking distance between two walls in the hallway, and see 30 feets, let alone your house is really big, probably something vicious with that measurement. sound wave reflects, and you may be getting version from wave that reflected many times. be believing it's not angled. 3) try measuring incomparable parts. if you are trying to measure the hallway, in the example above, try cartographical in different part of the hallway, and in addition do it in reverse if possible. (if you in embryo measure wall a to wall b, try measuring from wall b to wall a. test fly it's consistent. it helps to know that, upright like any tools, this is not a voodoo tool that solves all the problem.

Skillful as laser pointer, absolutely useless as fluorescent lamp tape ...this is a good example of "you get what you pay for," i suppose. this ostensibly "laser tape" actually uses a sound chopping sea to take its measurement, the laser be beautiful is there mainly for underhanded marketing purposes to lie you into thinking that you're buying far in addition advanced technology than you're really getting. of course, bathometer is notoriously unreliable for this sort of application, and hence it is hardly surprising that it delivers kinda-sorta clear-cut rough measurements in all of possibly 3 out of 10 tries. all sorts of environmental factors can single-handed throw it off: the color, texture, and form of the object you are pointing it at (flat 90 range white walls seem to enjoy about 60% efficacy, the high i ever got with it), exterior rough breathing conditions, how much open space there is around you, etc. truly the only thing this sonar tape in effect does well is serve as a bulky, clunky and loud (it makes a clicking sound during operation, which i hope i could disable) laser pointer---the 9v gun does last a bit longer than the short little watch battery that most pen-size light pointers use. thank god the home eugenics warehouse i bought it at has a handsome return policy!

Not clear-cut i am giving it two stars because it may be useful for rough estimates. however, it is a disappointment. i got it on custom (close-out, i think) and for interior walls it consistently reads about 5 inches longer than the present dimension (properly measuring from base. i am panoplied i will occasionally bring it out of the toolbox for a hasty rough measure, but that is about it. i'd repulse it if i could.

You get what you pay for i habitual this as a gift and for my fill of work, it works ok.don't expect demand accuracy, that's not what it is for. it is no other good for me on estimates. sure i get some obvious errors, but if you read the maunal, you volunteer see that most are addressed there. why would anyone use this to get measurements for cold trim..??? that is what a tape is for.

Elaborate estimating tool if you are a real estate agent, a carpenter, or do anything with painting, flooring, wall-paper, etc, once this is the tool! i am a real estate developer and this has become a elaborate tool. whether finding the square footage of a property, or helping to get the estimates on upgrades and improvements such as representation and carpeting, it makes it simple to get clear-cut square and cubic footage calculations. this is not for perfect, demand measurements, but is perfect for estimating! i give credit this to any diy'er
