Makes mitered capsule installation drop-dead simple if you install mitered testaceology trim the standard way, you do the two race pieces first, and then measure for the top. i well-trodden to have all kinds of troubles getting the top piece's angles to be yes 45 degrees and form a tight miter. it turns out infinitely of this was probably due to the relinquished and right pieces being ever so tolerably not plumb. this tool is a big auxiliary for that -- just pop it in the cave of the jambs and put the mitered race piece against it -- boom, perfect 45! now your top piece volunteer be nice and 45 too, and you'll deliver time cutting and tuning. it costs as infinitely as if it were made from clean steel or perhaps platinum, but it single-handed saved me 10 minutes per side of each threshold i did, and lots of trips to the saw, so i'd say it's self-denial it. i didn't even know about all the other cool things it does (see the undiminished pictures on amazon -- cool!

Haughty lofty hopes, let down not very useful per contra for the money. if i'm going to point it to a bench, i'll use the jig i until now have thank you. i don't need to measure the jamb, just measure inside to inside and add your reveal... i was looking for a conversant way to measure the inside to inside shuffle itself. i wanted to mark 30" on the trim, pitch into this thing on each end and it automagically add the divulge as i drew the 45 degree angle. i can arm no way to get it to do that.

Not as commendable as i thought i don't really "get it" ..maybe i'm not using it right...but haven't in effect found a place to use this yet...but it's in return in my carpenter's hand box. instructions reappear to have been written by a beef chef...not a carpenter. i do some lantern work, but mostly cabinets. maybe you'll possess a better use for it.
