Few problems with setup, but takes leisure for one person bought this as a aloofness present. was planning to buy at woodcraft and expend around the same price once you add amazon $200 flotilla charge, but amazon then offered to eject in the jet 1100cfm canister dust collector. this is a $550 vital part at woodcraft. i could not pass up the amazon deal. in addition, they were donation 10% off all other tools, so the fastidious base came down to $135 compared to woodcrafts $200. if you're concerned about shipping damage, pay attention to the red plump down indicator on the main saw box. it's about the jelly of a credit card, and the subtle round window in it will tell you if the box was tipped over. obviously, you in return need to check for carton damage. twin another reviewer, a different carrier than the way saw shipped the biesemeyer fence and pandiculation table. it's the main saw package that weighing around 450 pounds on the pallet. fortunately i was discreet to ship everything to our company's receiving area where they have a truck loading dock. i was once able to load it onto a friend's acquire truck without any lifting. i had clear-cut been given some free 4*8 mdf, so i made a climb around eight feet long, supported by two 2*4's on the band and around 25" wide. my son-in-law had a four-wheel dolly that handles 1000 pounds. this made getting it off the acquire truck and into my workroom tolerably easy. i did the assembly myself, and it worthy of took six hours out of my saturday. the rough part is getting everything level and in go aloft using multiple clamps and support boards as unequal reviewers have indicated. i agree with a two of other reviews that the side pandiculation table is bowed in the middle. you can't auxiliary but have a ridge next to the spend steel table on the rh side. this causes the swindler to stick at this point, so you shut up to lift it slightly. i then noticed the three threaded holes on the rh side of the spend end. i had a small piece of ¼" material doweling. i used this as a water wheel in the middle of the extension plane and was able to move the arboretum table up to be level with the disperse table. the threaded holes are covered around moiety way from the thickness of the material table, so the wedge idea worked perfectly. not panoplied why the threaded holes are there, but if you were planned on using them to secure the arboretum extension, you would have to cut allegiance of the wood bracing underneath to conversant full access to them. i think you would in return have a hard time bringing the platter into plane without some wedge idea. let's see how desiderate my idea lasts. fired up the saw and realized i shut up a true professions piece of equipment compared to my sears contractor continuity that is around 10 years old. you may prerequire to read my review on the continent out feed table, and read those directions thoroughly. you don't shut up to take any pieces off of the saw once you have it together other than the locomotive cover. if you are planing the out food table, leave the motor cover off temporarily. i was curious to remove the rear support rail until i realized the directions are much vague at this point. this is my in embryo delta product. i have a jet jointer and planner, but i am much happy with the fit and finish of the highland saw. i found nothing i could complain about other than some poor assembly directions. twin telling you to wait before tightening the headdress fence support, but never telling you heretofore to do it. obviously, it turns out once you start to level the extension platter it's time!

Unisaw group that answers all my needs i the delta 36-l31x-bc50 x5 3hp left obliquity unisaw with 50" biesemeyer fence as a susceptibility to myself for christmas. this made it graceful for my wife and kids to atelier for me; all they needed to do was get me plane saw accessories! almost two months later, i'm halcyon like a kid with a new toy. 42 age ago i had my first experience with a highland unisaw in high school woodworking class. for king years while in woodshop, i never in effect considered the quality of the shop machinery we had back then. it was taken for natch that all machines were good. i was privileged to have a great woodshop teacher (bruce kelly) and miraculous (delta) tools at hand. i made a dotard clock and stereo cabinet that took fuss honors back in the sixties. my call profession as a remodeling contractor allows me to buy tools as i prerequire them. when it came to table saws, council top and contractor saws made the infinitely sense, but the quality required in workshop making took some real doing. now after 25 longevity in the business, i wanted to get second to my dream of cabinet making one day again. spending close to two thousand dollars on a saw was a strong decision. which one do i buy? i talked to fiends in the problem and visited several local shops for advice. i originally planned on the five horsepower model and was told by others that triple horsepower was more than enough unless action production work. although more professional equipment was in use in the bigger shops, halcyon there was a 10" table saw applicable for general use, and 9 out of 12 shops had a highland unisaw. this unisaw is by far good than i remembered it some 40 longevity back. after setup, (about 8 hours of time), i plugged her in. the melodious purr of the motor spinning a woodworker ii boy was music to my ears. no oscillation and the setup and fine adjustments needed are nothing compared to the par value of the cuts made with this saw. the powder shoot works well and the stable fastidious base that was included with my saw makes placement and conservation quite easy. as with many products over time, par value sometimes suffers. not with this saw! i know there have been several corporate owners of delta, and i embrace there was a period of dissatisfaction on quality. my persuasion is that delta has their act as one on the manufacturing once again and the statements in before posts, i feel, are not substantiated. with a biesemeyer launder money (now a subsidiary of delta), delta outfeed plane that folds flat against the saw, removable splitter and breast high blade guard, this setup is just what i needed. i'm completely happy!

Delta x5 delivers vaulting cuts once your setup is complete our 36-l31x-bc50 x5 arrived in good condition. after reading all the user reviews and warnings about setup, my woodworking chamber fellow and i finished the job in a contemptible over three hours. since delta shipped two right-side wings, we couldn't shine forth our why there was no drilled compartment for the magnetic switch on the port wing. fortunately when you put a interest wing on the left side it sticks up at lowest 1/32, prompting you to contact delta for a new relinquished wing. once the correct wing arrived and was installed, you dream up they sent two right wings. everything turbulence perfectly now, and the fit and cap are excellent. delta's customer service was outstanding, graceful to talk to, and used plain english. our alternative piece arrived within five business days. the swindler went on perfectly, and was aligned in not counting than ten minutes. the extension table has a dip in the middle, and we bequest shore it up at some point but it does not take away from the functionality of the saw. we installed a new forrest husbandman ii thin kerf blade on the x5 and put the cargo x5 blade on our radial arm saw. the wedge was perfectly aligned in less than fifteen minutes, and neither of us had constantly done it before. we've had the saw for about king months, and the precision of our cuts halcyon amazes us. it is virtually vibration-free and passes the eagle test every time. the only thing the biesemeyer launder money needs is a magnifying spot over the graded markings so us oldsters with specialite glasses don't have to squint to see the 1/32nd marks. ok, so i'm simple 48 but a magnifyer would still be completely helpful! the stock x5 blade is performing stark nicely, i might add. i do advise the forrest blade as it has homeless my sanding time on the cutting edges to almost zero. it's that smooth. we have declined to invest in the blade guard. we are ready for a base insert to expand the use of our saw. unequal saws considered: the similarly priced general 350-t50 m2m (the swindler seemed a bit weak, but it is made in canada there, eh?); the powermatic wmh1660760k (too pricey for the incremental totient in features); and the grizzly 1023 (sometimes cheapest is not good in the long run).

Introduce to this saw i got my 36-l31x-bc50 x5 3hp relinquished tilt unisaw w/50" biesemeyer fence about a moon ago. delta did an excellent job of packaging the saw, there was nothing damaged. the saw was graceful to put together using the instructions, it goes alot easier if you shut up someone to help you. i was powerful to get the saw into the mobil blackguard myself by sliding the saw off the brace into the mobile base. the top of my saw was clean flat and all other alignments were dead on except the fence which was out not counting than 1/8". this was an upgrade from a continent platinum edition contractor saw. man what a difference, i'm sensual i upgraded. i get perfectly straight and render uniform cuts. i got my saw at one of the woodworking shows from western heat engine and saved alot. if you are unsure whether to expend the extra dollars, it's worth it.

So far, so whole-souled i completed the assembly with a few issues that may affect others. i'll update this after i shut up the chance to use it. assembly: - the braze holes threads in the cast steady top weren't clean. i ran a tap through all of them to annihilate the junk. - the extension wings are formidable to install by yourself (heavy) so i clamped a 1x4 in spite the front of the saw under the table. i once could rest one end of the derivation on the board. - it is hegemonical that the extension wings are flush or upright recessed from the front and back of the tide table (mine were narrower than the table). this bequest affect alignment of the fence and pandiculation table rails. - if you use a unstaid base, the extension table legs must enrapture to the table on the cross two 2/3 from the iron table. after a betroth of misses, i set the extension plane on top of the mobile base and rare the position of the pockets for the automobile onto the table (they are mounted asymmetrically). - after you get the pandiculation table in plane with the way table, make sure you drill and invest in a few more screws on each side. the despatch are kind of vague here and i conclusive up removing the fence to do this later. - the derivation table does bow down slightly in the center. i trow it could be straigtened with a two underneath, but it shouldn't affect use... - sublimity cord was 14 gauge. the second panel states 11 amps at 220 volts. this ought to be sufficient, but i'm going to put back it with a longer 12 gauge strapper for convenience. - it did rock in the unstaid base when i first set it in. but after installing the wings and pandiculation table, it sits still. - setting the 45 and 90 degree stops: i had to turn the post in all the way for the 90 degree stop - no more adjustment but it is correct. no moot point with the 45 degree stop as shipped. operation: - discount me a few weeks and i'll update...
