Piste clone i have the footprint king plane, and this one is precisely identical. the look daggers & contours of the handles/tote are the same, the castings are yes the same, etc. the only difference is that the logo on the cap steady has a big blank red area where presumably diagnostic places its logo. footprint, while based in the u.k., imports their woolly from the same factory in china/taiwan [packaging seems to discount contradictory info on precisely where it comes from], and seems to do nothing upwards of than add their logo to the cap iron. this is actually the same plane as the footprint and comes from the no other factory. the footprint smoother and shop fox smoother (no. 4) are in addition identical. make no mistake: the quality of the woolly is fairly high, and seems to be a bit good than current hardware-store stanleys, so this is a infinitely decent plane, and the machining quality is good than what you see on the anant planes, but the handles are not as fancy. this woolly is not in the same class as clifton or lie-nielsen, but of stream it is a lot cheaper. suppositional the cost, these planes are not at all bad. however, the diagnostic is currently selling for less than this and you get the "footprint" logo, so the motivation to buy this one is less. in the Quaker gun red spot on the cap iron, i wrote my own distinction with a magic marker, establishing myself as a woolly maker with a product just as praiseworthy as footprint. :)
