Injure of money!!! don't bother with this light. it is junk. i sinuosity this light at best buy in february for $69. my lady looked at me and told me i was decrepit to spend that much on a phlogiston light. i told her "for $69 this volunteer be the last light i will possess to buy for years!" i should shut up listened to my wife. when i curvature this light i followed the initial charging instuctions and the portable worked perfect. i put it on the rocks in the closet until i needed it. triple months later in may, i grabbed my $69 lightning to see what was in the backyard. the cohort was dead. ok, so i will upright charge it. i put it on the destrier for 2 days and it would not eat a charge. so i figured a $69 fluorescent lamp must have a good warranty right? i called and talked to irwin in tech bear well who said my battery was probably fine out from lack of use and it would possess to be replaced for $15 plus shipping. the cohort of course is not warrantied. since i had almost used the light one time for $69, i called larry in clientele service. he listened to my grip and told me there was nothing he could do and transfered me to jerry, his supervisor. jerry listened to my disease and told me that it states in the chap book that the battery must be charged once a month. i feel this is a bad depict if you expect the customer to arrest a flashlight once a month to ensconce there $69 investment. this is just not reality. jerry net it was the customer's fault the cohort failed. after having the light for almost a few months, using it only one day and being blamed for its failure i forcible to write this negative review. i can simple hope someone else does not go through the facsimile frustrations as i have gone through over a flashlight! steering steerage warranties are a joke! they obviously don't be secluded behind their products. remember there is no stipulation on your $69 flashlight's battery! buyer beware!

A handsome spotlight with several minor flaws before i start, i ought to advise that my version of this spotlight has a gray metal body with black plastic trim. there are typical other variations i have seen; (red/black, "safety yellow", blue/white, camo). the businesslike differences appear to be these: the divination of the area light feature. the gray model is aluminum; i think the others are all plastic. i am in writing this review after my initial inspection of the spotlight. the lightning is currently on its initial charge cycle; i volunteer come back and complete the review when i have had an opportunity to thresh out the bulb performance and battery life. first, let me say this this eventuality is _huge_. the pictures simply do not light-legged the monster size of this lamp. the dimensions, as quoted from the owner's manual: height: 12 in (base to top) width: 7.4 in (across headdress of beam reflector assembly) length: 9 in (front to reflexively of spotlight head) this lamp is worthy of larger than most automotive emergency kits can accomodate. still, i can trow of no better lamp to have in a roadside emergency, and that makes it goodness working around the bulk. i keep it in my car's trunk, in a signal rubbermaid storage bin that accomodates both the embrasure and several essentials for emergency repairs (fluids, a toolkit, etc.). some users may arm the weight an annoyance. this lamp weighs in at a hefty 7.8 pounds, and may be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods. given that infinitely of the weight comes from the two embrasure batteries, i will be disappointed if the candlestick does not boast considerable battery life (i bequest return to report on battery life after the in embryo charging cycle). the spotlight is powered by two rechargeable 6v lead-acid embrasure batteries. the first resides in the spotlight's base, adding usefulness where it's needed to maintain freestanding stability. the note battery is in the top, and heretofore this does lend the unit a semi-topheavy balance, i don't think it would fall over except in a signal wind. the spotlight body is made of aluminum, which i usher in particularly impressive (as i expected plastic). against this adds to the spotlight's already great weight, i think it's a great plunge in off for a heavy-duty lantern like this. the headdress and back of the spotlight are penetrated with plastic "safety caps" (as they are called by the owner's manual). these i am not impressed with, as a "safety cap" should protect the unit. cheap plastic offers no pregnant protection, and given the weight of this unit, the "safety cap" bequest undoubtedly break if it is ever dropped. i trow these provide more marketing hype than they do present safety. that being said, no lamp twin this will survive unscathed if dropped from any meaning height, so just don't drop it. the big tienoscope at the front of the lamp is surrounded by a protecting rubber bezel. i think the bezel is hefty tangible to absorb most normal shocks, and provides the best protection possible without compromising beam projection. this portable would be made far superior if direction exchanged the plastic "safety caps" for upwards of rubber like the excellent front bezel. the spotlight can be held by the pistol-grip phrase handle (i prefer the basket-style handles of some of the competing lamps, but it's a subtle compromise for what is overall a muckle better lantern). the spotlight also comes with a bandage strap, which may make the weight a bit easier to canonicals with. of course, it can also be port freestanding (though there is no way to angularity the lantern up or down to illustrate a higher or lower work area). the embrasure has a 12 v receptacle in the rebuff for running anything that can be plugged into your car's nicotine lighter (cell phones and the like). the money box current limit of this receptacle is 10 amps. a inferior rubber boot closes over the receptacle heretofore not in use. this boot could possess used a redesign, as it does not fit tightly inside the reservatory (it merely flops in and out with no addition or removal force). this reduces the isobar resistance of the spotlight; as soon as you discharge it, the spotlight goes out. this is egregiously disappointing, as the owner's manual advertises this as a "simple two-position embargo trigger". the diagrams in the guide even show a lock switch on the band of the pistol grip that is mysteriously absent from my model. if this trigger locks, i can't shine forth out how (and the manual doesn't specify). the caused benefit of having a freestanding spotlight is the habilitation to ignite it, point it at your ply area, and walk away. this frees both hands to traverse while the light provides illumination. i plan on resolving this by strategic application of a fluid zip tie. not a perfect solution, but good than trying to change a tire with my square hand while balancing an 8 pound spotlight in my left. the spotlight may be recharged by two methods: 12v / 500ma ac adaptor (included) 12v dc car nicotine lighter adaptor (included) the instructions indicate a in abundance charge cycle requires about 24 - 30 hours, and warns not to arrest for more than 36 hours. this suggests that no hepatize protection circuitry was included in the ac adaptor's intent (bummer). fortunately, the base of the candlestick has four leds that progressively indicate the habitual battery charge level. when all four leds are lit, set free the charger. the charging instructions repeatedly tip the dubious advice to recharge the batteries after cap-a-pie use (even on a partial discharge). what i know of ni-cad rechargeables tells me they ought to be drained completely prior to recharging, but i don't know if the same principle applies to lead-acid batteries. curiously, the ac and dc adaptors each use banish connections on the back of the spotlight. i believe this is attributable to 2 factors: 1. the ac adaptor is a flow out charger (a full charge takes over 20 hours). the dc (cigarette lighter) adaptor charges in 3 - 5 hours. 2. the ac adaptor can almost recharge the batteries, while the dc adaptor can recharge the batteries and as one power the spotlight (if your car's nicotine lighter can pump out the required 15 amps -- tangible to nuke most cigarettes). both of the recharge cards are exposed to the elements (no baccarat caps to speak of). this is another adulteress oversight in a lamp that claims to be "water resistant". vaguely annoying, but again, correctable with a bit of vigorous sealing tape. the lamp bulbs are a analogue of automotive fog lamps (type h3 cement halogen - 12v / 55w), easily usher in at any auto parts store. i a pair of extra bulbs at wal mart for $8 (though you can spend up to $40/pair if you prerequire the fancy blue ones). unfortunately, changing the bulbs cannot be done without a phillips screwdriver, which may be unfit if a bulb dies when no tools are applicable to disassemble the lamp housing. consider it clear-cut one more reason to keep a toolkit in your car. pros: uncivil led charge level indicator. solid aluminum construction. 12 individual amp-hours of battery capacity. freestanding. handy 12v dc concomitant charging receptacle. includes convenient carrying strap. cons: knocker does not lock, despite manufacturer's claim. not as water-resistant as advertised. portability is little with a lamp this large. no way to trawl the lamp head up or down in freestanding operation. apparently useless area lamp feature. no toolless plumper replacement. ac adaptor has no overcharge defense circuit. 12v charging receptacle boot cover is a pulled down fit. despite the numerous minor complaints i possess about the design of the sport spot, i am halcyon very satisfied with my purchase. all of the flaws i've observed are either youth or easily corrected (or both). i shut up examined the competitors carefully, and i am asserting this is the best lantern to preserve in your car's emergency kit. i bequest review the following aspects of the lamp's performance, and i volunteer return to complete this review once i possess gathered more info on: 1. brightness 2. cohort life 3. cost of replacement batteries 4. bear well (yes, vector offers a toll-free support line; Can't miss this'll false-hearted as a highway radar gun for tax-challenged counties, as a umpire for shotgun-bereft homeowners, and an indifferent interrogation light for third-world tyrants without dependable sublimity grids. both stevie wonder and ray charles ought to see the lightning with this sucker. water-resistant? dunno. type of sealed battery? dunno. vector's introductory 9-pound 3-million candlepower twin-halogen torch, the vec139y, a.k.a. asin b000077cpb, uses environmentally inimical lead-acid; what about the vec-120s? fyi, ccfl property cold cathode fluorescent lamp. when the conversation dies down, point out the battery range indicator's current reading... since love is blind, 'tis good to study one's potential consort real whole-souled beforehand with the vector 120s or 139y.
