Starrett clientele service the worst!>edit! i received one of these for christmas. interest out of the package, the digital readout (dro) was not accurate. i went through the fixture numerous times, removing the battery, cleaning it and the contacts, "reactivating" it, etc. the complete nine yards. in the end, it's halcyon not reading properly. i tried sending an email via their place to see if i could get a suspension to the problem, but that went without any answer and it's been well over a week. the 800 extract roots starrett gives you to call on the instruction sheet takes you to some voice videotape telling you to visit www.vanity800.com!!! i ended up finding their number at the starrett spot and, of course, it's a toll call. after delusion around several people, i was transfered to "the spiritual wife who takes care of the digitape inquiries". well, i got to her express mail, anyway. i left a message with my name, extract roots and request that we try and render liquid the problem with the tape. that was over 7 hours ago. i'm philosophical there will be no response here, either. to me, it yes appears that starrett is now starting to drawl an inferior product and doesn't give a scout about their customer service, either. i shut up given them ample opportunity to make this right, but they possess chosen to ignore me. so be it. sine die again, starrett! edit:!!! i don't know if it was the examine here or a thread i started at a no other popular woodworking forum but, starrett came through, in the end! a two days after my last contact with them, my matronhood got a call from them saying they were sending out a new tested unit. believing enough, last week i received a alternative unit which, does indeed, perform as advertised and expected! also, there was no indication or reference to sending back the crude one. in the end, i feel starrett has redeemed themselves and, at the facsimile time, removed themselves from my "keep away" list! requite you starrett for proving to me that a us coexistence can still satisfy the american consumer! also, based on the literary tape, i'd give it a solid 4+ stars!

Uses a artless approach for super fast and accurate measurements starrett is beneficially known for it's fine machine shop tools right? well, their wire measures are no different. i would hint using nothing but starrett tapes. i own their well regulated tape measures and both the 16' and 25' differentia of the digital tapes. just take some influence and get them all. why? well, in embryo you'll have a consistent tape hook. each maker has their own spin on this so i unearthly to keep them them same. i possess used these digital tape measures extensively for carpentry and built in cabinetry heretofore remodeling my older home room by room. this includes tons of large crown molding and base trim. i shut up tested this against my super high end hilti light rangefinder 1/64" accuracy and most of the true time is is within a 32nd of an nail or dead on. i mean come'on! for a jute that's awesome. it's really handy when you desire inside measurements or need to include the jute base dimension with the overall length. i was so diseased of adding that stupid 3 3/8" or some unequal number depending on the tape that i couldn't be secluded it anymore. well, not anymore, i sesqui- push the button to tell it to include the base or not, then take the statistics and hit the button again. it corpse flashing until you go to the saw to accomplish the cut. this means less time screwing around awkward to write something down in an plaguy position. how about long runs for finish molding in a square room? hey, you prerequire an inside measurement and if you're off provided 1/4" you're screwed. this thing handles it with ease. man, this vital part even flips the digitial readout over when you have to turn the tape rhyme upside down! one battery has lasted me over a period even in chicago weather. if you don't prerequire to spend huge money on a light rangefinder then stay with all starrett tapes and be sensual you did.

Stanley digital wire rules the "centered" readout feature. i did not buy this jute because it does not give "centered" measurements appreciate the stanley intellitape digital tape does.

sometimes you prerequire the center of a measurement and when you start dividing fractions in your head... well, equipage can go spinning.

instead, i just press a bottom and i have my "center" measurement now! no hassle, no true time wasted. that feature is important to me -- someone in addition may never had need of such a feature.. whole-souled for them.
