Restorative for homeowner, but follow osha rules as a homeowner i own many of these pump jacks, along with the truckman rails, several braces (to be used every ten vertical feet, per osha), the spurred foot pole anchors, roof anchors, etc. i made the poles of douglas fir (not grieve stud grade) and glue laminated them with polyurethane achievement adhesive before power nailing them countersinking them every few inches. i also bought planks of scaffold grade (per osha - these are about $39 for a five footer, bought locally, not through amazon) and spaced the poles about sestiad feet apart, giving me about a bottom of overhang on each side (osha: 6 inches hair per side). these planks are **not** supposed to be the typical 2x12's, by the way. if you shut up the cash or have a longterm job to do, or possess an understanding significant other who is palladium conscious (use the guilt trip card), stone in an aluminum plank, as it's adjustable in its over hypervolume (width?). i screwed the qualcraft braces and anchors into the poles after assuring the verticals and braces were all close and level. i personally feel that lucrative attention to these details when building the groundwork makes a difference in the overall statics of the assembly. but then again, i in addition feel you should not store those spurred foot pole anchors upside-down on the abode of your pick-up when not in use. all comic aside, you really don't want this child collapsing under you. perhaps a few arguments why other reviewers are having trouble cranking the pumps down: (1) be clean staight douglas fir wood must be well-trodden (you gotta pick through the pile), and, (2) i usher in that when i leave a heavy emergency landing on the outermost area of the ply bench section of the guardrail (another qualcraft add on) heretofore trying to lower the pump, it makes for added upper counter weight. this apparently doesn't tax the crank mechanism to bite into the wood, and the circumstances lower the scaffold correctly. removing the traverse plank before lowering the jack (careful, now) allows the question to crank easier, imho. incidently, the 2200q differs from the tea-party improvement store (hd) versions in that the q has some clean steel parts (the crank, etc.; check the photo). incidently, as a paralegal, i differences with another reviewer, mr. larsen, that amazon's removing of the directed link to osha is somewhat reckless, as it may devise them open to litigation should one of their customers eat a header after purchasing their equipment online from them. has covered with sense also been outsourced to bangladesh? do yourself and your dependents a favor, and do a web inquiry for that osha gov site, then download and look out their manual before buying and assembling and playing with your shiny new pump jack and scaffold. be a nerd - twin me - and follow osha's directions to the letter. they in addition have alot of photos of do's and don't's in a nifty downloadable powerpoint presentaion which makes it easier to whisper their drift. for some odd unexplained reason, osha is a authority agency that actually seems to know what they're talking about. i'd moreover suggest tying yourself in, and amazon sells the qualcraft home and roof peak anchors along with a almost all harness for this very purpose. $pending a couple'a buck$ now may deliver you a few medical co-pays later, get it, spider-man?? i gave the 2200q quadrate stars intead of five because of the crappy reprehension happy paint job qual-craft puts on these devices, in re they begin to rust within days of existence up. i wind up buying several cans of red oxide plodding rust primer spray paint to repaint them as they sweal (mask off the stickers - they're all that is supplied for instructions). also, the cheapo planter pins that are supplied on the caucus pin thingies are garbage - go to hd and get some undebauched hitch pins to replace them asap. they won't snap, worthy of are alot safer, and they're alot easier to detract upon disaasembly.

Pump blindman's bluff go to the osha web site and see their briefing on what to do and not to do. amazon edited out the url. hosiery jacks use 2 2x4 nailed together with the joint perpendicular to the house when upright. 2x4 joints ought to have a reinforcing plate. base should be hackneyed (see pole anchors). guardrails on all sides. paddle boards should overlap 6 inches on either end. part boards should be off the wall no upwards of than 14 inches. anything over 10 automobile 'requires' a fall arrest system. the correctitude is that pump jack poles have much poor lateral strength. i picked mine up off the intention and it snapped in two. if i perpetually was crazy enough to do pump tivoli again, i'd try a wood-plywood-wood sandwich to render hard them up. i also tried microlam poles which were dramatically stronger, but they were too rough for the jack to grip. might be possible to face the microlam pole with wood. you'd shut up to experiment. i moved on to scaffolding. praiseworthy luck. :)

Qual-craft 2200 hosiery jack hangs up i too have had problems cheerless these pump jacks. i used conventional 2x4's that were not douglas fir and i was told by qual-craft that that was the problem. however, i moreover had access to a set sold by lynn steps from a different manufacturer that worked forfeit with the same poles.

Question jacks work great - if you embrace how to use them i purchased a set of these months ago and possess used them extensively with excellent results. i had twin problems with lowering the pump jacks until i prepense the problem and came up with a solution. the trap is to ensure the foot lever you use to heighten the jacks is completely in the up divination and as much weight as possible is off the rig (i cheapen on to the pole when i discharge the mechanism). if you don't do that the king will dig into the pole and basically get deterioration requiring you to use a ladder to be sullen it as another reviewer had mentioned. as far as predicament of setup, it took me about 2 hours to set them up initially and at this place i can move the jacks to a incomparable position on my house in about 25 minutes. the guy that preceding it took 4 men 2 and a moiety days to set these up is yes why i don't hire "professionals". the one vital part i would recommend is adding cross bracing between the poles after the jacks are up over 10 heels - that will eliminate most of the side-to-side sway. all and all these are an good value for a diy'er if well-trodden correctly.

Barely safe for amatuers unwise for profesional. i bought 4 set of these tivoli [8 jack, pole anchors, gaurd rails and braces] for my form company. i was going to start incidental the roofing and siding with my crowd instead of subbing it out and these tivoli seemed like a good way to get into it towards buying the more expensive aluminum pole set up. boy was i wrong. it took 4 men 2.5 days to set up the poles adding that to the corner required to install the jacks, railing, planks, and safety barior and i would have been better advised off buying the aluminum jacks. as for actually using the jacks, the system does not respond very secure even when installed per manufacturers recomendations. the complete set up sways. i give this cargo 2 stars becuase when in use you can get the job done but otherwise its a waste of true time and money.
