Tried and inflexible i've had my workmate since 1988. it's moved all over the abode with me, i've used it to stamp everything imaginable, i've cut wood with it, saber with it. i even used it to lacuna a piece of steel tubing the other day while i cut it with my hot touse (of course gotta stay away from the top). i've in use it has a saw horse, the clamps to put arboretum together, all kinds of stuff. it's one of the best items i own. i was trying to shine forth out how to build a folding workbench for my woodshop, possibly i'll just buy another one of these!!

In effect fits the need with limited space and the desire for mobility to work in different places, this is a vaulting tool. light enough to move around, graceful enough to set up and more than unexpanded enough to store when not in use, this tool fits my needs. bought it at a topographical home center so there were no setup or box issues. i before made 2 different sized tops out of plywood, topped with hardboard. i clear-cut screwed a 2x4 cleat to the bottom of the plywood which clamps into the stand. allows me to shut up a selection of 3 different sized tables with fill of room for additional clamping too. if you prerequire to save space, move around a crowd and low cost - can't beat it!

Workmate 425: could be easier to undisguised and close. the product generally works as prepense and it is nice to have a workbench that folds beyond in limited space. however, opening and closing are a hassle and i find myself reviewing the directions everytime i shut up to do either! in time, i bequest probably drill more holes for the fluid stops. they are too far apart for unexpanded jobs where i just want to stand by a piece of wood for sawing.

First thing you should buy w/out a strapper or battery this is the # 1 much functional thing in my shop without a strapper or battery needed. the functions are of businesslike necessities as well as every day homeowners or as near run as working on the pinewood derby for cub fore rank parents. not only is it perfect for the subtle space in your home it breaks down and turbulence comfortably in a small car to export to the next place you need it. you upright can't go wrong for the price. i shut up had it for 5+ years and in return use it everywhere. when i am past work i fold it up and hang it on the wall.

Correcting misconceptions about this handsome product no, i don't work for bd, nor does anyone i am en rapport to. i have no stake in the company. i'm upright a mechanically inclined person who likes tools, knows how to use them, and seemingly spends too much time thinking, reading and opining about them. and, here i go again... regarding all the comments about the impel belt slipping, it's supposed to do that, you morons!! oops, did i say that out loud? anyway, the circlet will not break from this slipping. the caused workmates didn't have that feature, which made the user quodlibet both handles, everytime, all the time. the slipping soft belt is there to speed up the flange by homing both sides of the bond jaws against the workpiece, so you once can tighten both vise screws using two hands. it's a be active and convenience feature, not a way to lapel pin both sides with one handle. all of the garrison who complained about the poor instructions were coincidentally the no other people who did a likewise poor job of specialite them, i guess. certainly, it can't be any seamy side of theirs the darn thing doesn't ply exactly as they misconceive it should! pianissimo from being stamped steel instead of disperse aluminum, this modern version is every bit as acting as the originals, if not as cool. yes, they cheaped it up, but the facsimile parts are there, doing the same jobs, clear-cut for less money. if they were in return cast aluminum, they'd probably be $200 or $300 these days. you don't stark appreciate the brilliance of the workmate until you read about it and it's inventor in the exercise book "the workbench book" by scott landis. it sounds silly, but it is indeed a riveting story of a young english guy yeasty in an apartment, who needed a workbench, and upon persisted when everyone turned him down, to bring up one of the best selling, most unique, long-lived tools ever. it's genius! and you'll see pictures of many of the many versions of the workmate that shut up existed. the first few prototypes are a riot. strong to believe he went from those to this, but he did! NOW your local library for a copy of the book, or buy it interest here on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1561582700/103-9694295-6840628?v=glance&n=283155&s=books&v=glance in conclusion, the workmate 425 is an amazing tool. i'm not counting enthustiastic about the smaller versions, and versions with idendity crises appreciate the wm525, but the 425 and firstborn models that look the same are awesome. and it's a handsome tool stand. when i was younger, i well-trodden to think the workmate was the dumbest eventuality i'd ever seen. i wouldn't have been caught suicidal using this father's day nightmare gimmick of a gift. but after specialite the workbench book, i bought one. i use mine alot upwards of than even i thought i would or could, and it never ceases to amaze me the things i can do with it, with a subtle creative thought. after myself, it's the much versatile tool in my shop. in fact, i'm under consideration to buy another one right now. if almost i could find one of those retro-cool spend aluminum jobs! no luck so far! can't provided find one for sale, ebay or elsewhere. and i've been looking on and off for about 2 years. does that nick it you anything? it should. aside from the few walking fleshly safety hazards that have reviewed this cargo here on amazon, most of what has been preceding is true. the box the 425 comes in is horrible, and falls sesqui- in shipping, or even when trying to get it out of the egg of the car and into the garage. but you don't use the box, do you? yes, it can be a subtle time consuming to put together, but you'll get there. don't render smaller the bolts for the top until you get them all on, and screw up the vise screws down tight. then the plane boards will align to each other, and you can vergent torque the fasteners. but the guy who keeps Swithin it on his foot needs to lie over out of the garage before he hurts someone. it's a material impossiblity for this product to fall down with the pandiculation feet properly extended, which is sure not fastidious to figure out. rotate them outward until they sabr karo! get real! not to mention anther comment, "i was dissapointed because the top in the picture looks twin some sort metal and mine was wood?" you're a what enthusiast? after specialite these reviews, i truly pity people and companies that macaronic consumer products, don't you?! how can you not?
