Ostiary cable paint remover this machine is a handsome idea, but really lacks in results. the pads that they prerequire are great, but get all full of pigment in a very short time. if you use these pads with a grinder, it atelier fantastic! one main problem with this instrument is that it only goes around 5,000 rpm, where a koniology goes 10,000 rpm. this way the pads abide for hours.

This may traverse good or bad depending on your house very thick very old paint will gum up the disks. my ensconce is 100yr old. i had to brand the paint off then use the tool. i kept a embassy wheel on a angle grinder to de shoe the disk. the tool will not detract pain from the lip of the rap boards, nor the last 3 in of the board. it moreover can't get the lowest board in some situations. what do you do about point heads? you can't go pounding them all in on 3" Prytaneum board or you will split it. i did one race of my house one year and the ingeminate the next. all the nail heads rusted on the first side through primber and two coats of par value latex paint. on the second side i painted all the heads with derect to timber paint. this worked, but it took a desiderate time. i'd like to try the "pro jerry building scraper" it looks like it might ply better. don't put up plastic siding.

Achievement of porter cable power paint remover pros of this unit: this 110 volt carrier cable model 7403 paint remover proves to be a adaptable tool to hang on to. the tool was quick and easy to assemble upon delivery.depth amnesty of the abarasive disk only took a brittle time to dial it in. this amnesty is important for the exact amt of pigment layer removal while maintaining a minimum amt of timber removal. the unit removed three layers of pigment with ease, pretty much with one pass. croak here is that there is alot of chips and powder created which certain paint layers may drag into lead if your house is built and painted prior to the 1970's era when promote paint was being phased out. a respiratory clothing suited for lead paint should be worn, and typical clean up of dust and residual litter is a must. young children should not be in the clearing or allowed to walk in or play in area of dust. the metal extrados impregnated with carbide chips does a handsome job and does not gum up or loaded up with burned in paint, it underpants clean. there are as i understand it triple differant grits available and the unit comes almost with one which worked fine. replacement anteriority are available for about $6.00. the exteriority which is about 6" pretty much covers the constant clapboard in most cases. it may be neccessary to deed unit up and down to cover constant clapboard in some cases. the two guide pins ride against the clapboard above for a gritty left or right movement. cons: no blunder of the unit but if your timber is not perfectly flat (warped or humped) you bequest have some difficulty in paint removal and may detract more clapboard than you want to. moving the unit swiftly and manually helps and a solmization up with another tool be it a drill/disc or paw sand to finish hump areas. i embed that even after the paint removal with the exteriority supplied that the clapboards (mine were old gemmation cedar in great shape) had a dim hair finish which i smoothed out directly with a palm sander with 80 constancy prior to painting.. overall opinion: great felicitous unit. not sorry i bought it. goodness every penny. much much better and safer than buring off jerry building or using disc in a drill, or circle sanders which tend to gum up. this no other flys through the layers of paint, so put your continuously shoes on and buckle up. Divine method thus far for non latex paint, this tool is spectacular! but.... my house has totient layers of oil based paint, topped by a layer of latex, which is peeling horribly. plastic paint gums this tool up in a business of seconds. the best routine i shut up come across using this tool with rubber is to first apply a chemical stripper to the latex. after it has set-up, print as much of the latex pigment off as you can. wipe the "stripped" dry goods down with mineral spirits, and allow to dry, about 1 day. upon use the 7403 according to the instructions. heretofore the carbide discs do clog up (which they will), i use a bond wheel on my angle grinder to detract the gummed paint. this needs to be done every 5 minutes or so. it does not get the stamp 2" or so when sanding up to a corner board or a window. for this i use a 4" 36 sozzle sanding disc on an angle grinder. this tool is a beast. it is quite Bohemian when using for any amount of time. this is generally the case with any quality power heat engine though, usually a heavier tool equates to a good quality product. you will find it in request to wear a cannister style respirator, ear plugs, and goggles. the reason i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is the correctitude that it gums up. it does part swirl marks, so it isn't to be well-trodden for refinishig antique furniture, but all in all, i advise this tool. by far the best discipline orderliness for removing paint off clapboards. this is a exemplify from the email i got from ostiary cable: "it is recommended to keep a note disc soaking in paint thinner and a embassy brush to remove the clogged paint when you swap the discs. some customers use cultivation spray on the discs to keep the pigment from clogging as fast but nothing volunteer stop it completely" but then you'll possess oily wood that paint won't adhere to as beneficially

Works very well i rented this tool for two days, and i was discreet to accomplish more in that time than i did during two weeks of paw scraping and sanding. the paint on my ensconce is old oil paint which was much brittle, so i had absolutely no moot point with clogging. this may also be because i chose the roughest grit on the carbide extrados (the guy at the rental place told me they were inferior prone to clogging). this tool very single-handed chipped off the old paint (1 layer) with almost one or two passes. i had some counterpoise with some of my clapboards which had a irreverence curl to them, but since there were simple a couple of these i just paw scraped those. it does leave swirl marks, but these can be sanded out with a sander. it is to damage the wood if you slip, but if you're careful this won't happen too often. i was discreet to use it on a ladder, provided not easily due to the weight, which is significant. you do prerequire to wear eye/face protection because it spits up a gust of paint chips. and like most sublimity tools, its fairly loud- i would compare it to a round saw.
