You get what you pay for i best one of these up yesterday. to be undisguised i wasn't expecting a whole lot. i'd be attentive at it as like a woolly kit more than a finished tool. the one is pretty rough and will prerequire some sanding or filing. i ran it in spite my belt sander and it smoothed out reasonably well. there are some pits (look twin voids from the casting process) but they aren't too bad. the wedge is ok and can take a whole-souled edge after some time on a sharpening stone. i can't report how long the edge will last, but it seems to be au fond well made. it isn't flat however. i tried honing the second side of the blade and for good gave up.

the blade is difficult to adjust. clamping it down with the mechanical powers tends to move the blade. my divine effort was snugging it down and upon tapping on the end to pack it for depth and lateral angle.

after squelch it up, i tried it on some 3/4" latifolous pine and it took off a unexpected thin slice of wood leaving a infinitely nice finish.

bottom line is don't think likely a lot, but it's a clear-cut little gadget to play with.
